*National Consumers Day Celebration at Shyam Singh Smarak Kanya Inter College*
December 24th marked a significant day for the students of Shyam Singh Smarak Kanya Inter College, Sarfabad, as they celebrated National Consumers Day. Powered by the Bureau of Indian Standards, Noida, and Salaam Namaste Community Radio, this event aimed to educate students about their rights and responsibilities as consumers.
*Awareness Through Storytelling and Visuals*
The event was hosted by Ms. Barsha Chhabaria, Stationhead of Salaam Namaste Community Radio. She began by sharing an engaging story that captured the students' attention and introduced the concept of consumer rights. This was followed by informative videos that shed light on important topics such as Dark Patterns, Basket Sneaking, and the National Consumer Helpline (1915).
*Creative Expression, Recognition and Felicitation*
To make the event more interactive and fun, students were encouraged to express their creativity through slogans, informative essays and beautiful art also depicting Jagriti, an informative character that tells about how consumers maybe cheated and the ways consumer can file complaints on 1915. Around 50 students participated. The top 10 artworks were by Shreya, Sheetal, Priya, Ananya,Sofiya, Priyanshi,Rajani, Akansha, Sonam and
Pinki, they all were felicitated with the Manak Mitra Badge, while the top 5 received the Manak Mitra Cap, and the top 2 were awarded the Manak Mitra T-shirt. Sheetal and Ananya emerged as the top two winners.

*Empowering Consumers of Tomorrow*
Through this event, students gained valuable insights into consumer rights, the role of the Bureau of Indian Standards, and the ways in which consumers can be cheated. They also learned about the National Consumer Helpline (1915), which provides a platform for filing grievances. The event concluded on a positive note, empowering the students with knowledge and awareness to make informed choices as consumers.
This initiative highlights the importance of educating consumers, especially the younger generation, about their rights and responsibilities. By doing so, we can foster a more informed and aware consumer base that can make a positive impact on the market and society as a whole.
