RWA Sensitization Program by BIS at SG Homes Society

On February 9, 2025, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in collaboration with Salaam Namaste Community Radio, conducted an RWA Sensitization Program at SG Homes Society. The event aimed to raise awareness about consumer rights, BIS certification marks, and the importance of standardization in daily life.

Dignitaries and Special Guests

The event was graced by esteemed members of the Apartment Owners Association (AOA), including:

  • Mr. Rakesh Kumar and Mrs. Mona Jain (AOA Members)
  • Mr. Charanjeet Singh (President)
  • Mr. Ranjan Kumar (Secretary)
  • Mr. R.K. Aggarwal (Vice President)



Engaging Activities and Awareness Sessions

The program began with a pledge taken by all attendees, reinforcing their commitment to being aware and responsible consumers.

Ms. Barsha Chhabaria, Station Head of Salaam Namaste Community Radio, captivated the audience with an engaging story about "Sharma Ji," who bought a pressure cooker without an ISI mark, leading to an accident while making chhole. This real-life scenario effectively highlighted the risks of using non-standardized products. She then elaborated on BIS certification marks, including:

  • ISI Mark – Ensuring product quality and safety
  • Ecomark – For eco-friendly products
  • CRS Mark – For electronic products
  • Hallmark – For gold and silver purity
  • BIS Care App – A tool for consumers to verify product authenticity

Interactive Skit and Competitions

A skit on consumer rights awareness was performed by Ojasvi Talwar and Tavishi Talwar, engaging the audience with an entertaining yet informative act.



A slogan writing competition was also held, where participants expressed their understanding of BIS and Standard Marks. The winners were:

  • Charvi Kandpal
  • Tripti
  • Rakesh Kumar

They were honored with medals and certificates for their insightful contributions.



Recognizing Enthusiastic Participants

The event also recognized the vigilant and curious audience members, along with the skit participants and volunteers, Yashika and Aaysha, for their active involvement.

A Successful Conclusion

The program ended on a high note, with positive feedback from the participants, who expressed a deeper understanding of consumer rights and the importance of BIS certification.
