*Empowering Consumers with Standards Awareness – RWA Sensitization Program by BIS Ghaziabad*
On December 8, 2024, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Ghaziabad, in collaboration with outreach partner Salaam Namaste Radio, conducted a Residential Welfare Association (RWA) Sensitization Program at Parsvanath Majestic Floors Society, Indirapuram. The event aimed to raise awareness about consumer rights, BIS standard marks, and the importance of quality assurance in everyday life.
The program welcomed distinguished guests, including Mr. Ayush Raj, Standard Promotion Consultant, BIS Ghaziabad, as the keynote speaker. The society’s leadership, represented by Kapil Dixit, President of Parsvanath Majestic Floors Society, Anuj Jha, Estate Manager, Mrs. Renu Bala Singh, and Mr. Girishwar Mishra, Vice Chancellor, added grace to the occasion.
*A Celebration of Standards and Awareness*
The event began on a melodious note with a beautiful song about standards performed by the LNS Club members, followed by the inspiring Manak Yuva Icon anthem. The session was begun by Ms. Barsha Chhabaria, who captivated the audience with a relatable and engaging story about the role of standards in daily life.
Mr. Ayush Raj took the stage to educate attendees about the significance of BIS standards, the various certifications such as ISI marks and hallmarks, and how to verify these using the BIS Care App. His interactive session addressed the queries of society members, empowering them with knowledge to make informed choices as consumers.
*Creativity Meets Advocacy*
Adding a cultural touch to the program, Mrs. Renu Bala Singh recited a heartfelt poem on the importance of standards. A nukkad natak by the talented students of Lakshay Pathshala brought the message to life, showcasing scenarios involving hallmarked products and demonstrating how to verify them effectively.
The program also celebrated creativity and effort. The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, recognizing the participants of the nukkad natak, contributors to the Jago Art initiative, and the dedicated society members whose support made the program a success.
*Conclusion*
This sensitization program exemplified BIS Ghaziabad's commitment to educating citizens about standards and consumer rights. With the enthusiastic participation of the residents of Parsvanath Majestic Floors Society and the support of Salaam Namaste Radio, the event successfully bridged the gap between standards and everyday life, leaving the attendees more informed and empowered.
Such initiatives reinforce the importance of standards in ensuring safety, quality, and trust in the products we use, making them an essential part of a consumer-driven society.
