Manak Mitras on the mission
The Y2Y Quality Connect Campaign by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Noida (Under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India) aims to enhance the quality of products and services in India. It focuses on improving standards, promoting awareness about quality, and facilitating collaboration among stakeholders. The initiative likely includes training programs, workshops, and outreach to ensure better compliance with standards, ultimately benefiting consumers and industries.
To spread awareness with faster pace, Bureau of Indian Standards, Noida (Under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India)asks the youth to volunteer for the campaign and work as "Manak Mitra". The campaign includes surveying the people and creating awareness about Bureau of Indian Standards, Noida (Under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. Of India) BIS Care app . The survey is done by informing people how Bureau of Indian Standards, Noida (Under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India) works for safety of consumers and how as a consumer, they have right and responsibility to ask for standardized products and services. The volunteers then gives visuals of how to verify products on BIS Care App and also lodge complaint on the app.
Introducing Manak Mitra
Manak Mitra(Under Quality Connect Campaign with BIS, Noida) is an initiative by Bureau of Indian Standards, Noida (Under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India) promote standardization and quality assurance in India. It aims to create a network of quality-conscious stakeholders, including manufacturers, consumers, and service providers.
Key features include:
- Awareness and Education: Promotes understanding of standards and their importance among businesses and consumers.
- Support for SMEs: Provides guidance and support to small and medium enterprises in implementing quality standards.
- Collaboration: Large number of youth come together and work in collaborative manner to spread awareness.

This initiative seeks to foster a culture of quality, benefiting both the economy and consumers by ensuring safer, better products and services.
IMS Students as Manak Mitra
The students of IMS Noida are true epitome of spirit and commitment. The volunteers began with high energy and reached various students, colleges and other regions of Noida to spread awareness about Bureau of Indian Standards, Noida (Under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs,Govt.of India) and BIS Care App.
The number of volunteers is huge and so is their dedication. The volunteers were seen interacting with people with purpose of creating a wave of awareness about hallmarks on jewelry, HUID, ISI Mark, CML Number, BIS Care App. The volunteers informed about various standards such as;
Hallmarks are legally recognized symbols stamped on jewelry and other items made from precious metals to verify their authenticity.
Eco Mark is a certification mark issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India for products that meet specific environmental criteria. It is awarded to products that are environmentally friendly and meet strict standards.
The ISI Mark is a certification mark issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for industrial products in India. It signifies that a product conforms to the quality standards set by BIS and ensures that it is safe and reliable for consumers.
CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme) is a certification scheme initiated by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in India. It mandates certain electronic and IT products to meet specific safety standards before they are sold in the Indian market.
This campaign also served as a golden opportunity for the youth to explore different regions and interact with different people. There was no lack of dedication and hence many volunteers were able to complete the targeted interactions within few days of campaign and some volunteers also exceeded the target to set the milestone.
