Salaam Namaste Community Radio: A Decade of Community Service


Salaam Namaste Community Radio, a unit of the Institute of Management Studies (IMS) Noida, is the first community radio station serving Noida and Ghaziabad. Since 2009, the station has been a vital voice for various communities, including women, children, students, senior citizens, artisans, and social activists.


A Voice for All

Salaam Namaste was established with a clear mission: to be a medium of change within the community. The station has provided a platform for different groups to share their stories, raise concerns, and engage with vital social issues. Through this work, Salaam Namaste has played a significant role in transforming information about government programs and schemes into actionable knowledge, helping people access services and drive social change.


Key Programs and Initiatives

Over the years, Salaam Namaste has produced a variety of programs addressing critical social issues:


  • Child Labor: Collaborating with agencies like UNICEF, the station has raised awareness about the pressing issue of child labor, advocating for children's rights and education.


  • Women Empowerment: The Salaam Shakti program focuses on promoting women's rights and empowerment, earning recognition from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.


  • Skill Development: In partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation, Salaam Namaste launched the "Hunar Hai To Kadr Hai" campaign, promoting local talent and entrepreneurship.

  • Girl Child Education: Through campaigns like #Har Kadam Beti Ke Sang with Room To Read India Trust, Salaam Namaste has promoted the importance of continuing education for girls.

  • 2022: Appreciated by the Noida Authority for contributions to Swachh Survekshan 2022.
  • 2021: Awarded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for promoting local culture through the Art Manthan radio program.
  • 2020: Honored at the South Asia Pacific Health Care Summit for Best Community Media in Health Awareness.
  • 2019: Received recognition from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the Salaam Shakti program, promoting women’s empowerment.

Lok Kala Sanskriti Mahakumbh

  Sangeetika Academy of Performing Arts, Delhi in collaboration with Van Kanya Arts and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam  Trust is doing Bhartiya Kala Sanskriti Mahakumbh at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat, Delhi during 12-16 November 2026. This event is being organised in memory of renowned Kathak Guru Jitendra Maharaj ji by his disciples primarily by Padma Shri awardee Kathak dancers Nalini Kamalini. This event aims to bring forward the artistic and cultural fabric of India in its full glory. The event will have performances by classical dancers as well as folk dancers.       Swachh Survekshan is an annual survey of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation in cities and towns across India, initiated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA) as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). The survey aims to encourage cities to improve their service delivery to promote cleanliness, waste management, and overall sanitation. In the Swachh Survekshan 2023 rankings, Noida was recognized as the cleanest city in Uttar Pradesh, achieving the 14th position nationally among cities with a population over 1 lakh.
